ImaginAsia International Conference and Workshop 2012
– Nature vs. Man-made
1 Introduction
ImaginAsia International Conference and Workshop will be held the fourth time this year and will be organized by the Graduate Program in Digital Content Studies, Meiji University. To be held in Japan this year, the program will continue to bring together digital media research faculty and students from around Asia, for cultural, academic and creative exchange. The participating teams will share research findings, engage in cultural discussion and produce digital media creative content based on the theme: Nature vs. Man-made.
Asia is a place full of rich and diverse natural habitat, where the fusion of multiple different cultures and values occur. However, the flooding in Thailand, earthquake in Japan and India last year and other natural disasters forces us to reflect on how these “Man-made” cultures, built on the foundation of “Nature”, can evolve to adopt a whole new face amidst these problems. Hence, the theme this year is Nature vs. Man-made.
